Summary
Responsible and accountable to travel to customer sites to install, service, and repair food processing machinery. Use deep technical knowledge to assist with and provide guidance in the testing of Handtmann technologies and to provide assistance on troubleshooting issues for complex customer installations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities may include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Travel to customer locations to install, service and repair food processing machinery.
  • Supports customer satisfaction with effective maintenance and repair of food production equipment in the meat, bakery, dairy, poultry and seafood processing plants.
  • Inspects equipment to detect or determine any issues or malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic control systems to provide technical support, installation of new equipment, preventative maintenance and on-site equipment repairs.
  • Provide customer training on new equipment.
  • Works as part of a collaborative team to support and share specialized technical expertise.
  • Complete detailed service reports and applicable CRM maintenance.
  • Manages spare parts inventory.
  • Maintains customer equipment repair and maintenance records.
  • Fosters and maintains excellent relations with customers.
  • Must be willing to travel approximately 80% of the time
  • Must be willing to work weekends (approximately 1 to 2 per month) and after hours as required. This role is eligible for overtime.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Sphere of Interaction
This position interacts and interfaces with senior management and all employees, especially German technical resources, field service personnel, applications, sales and parts department members. In addition, there will be frequent contact with customers and new potential customers.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education, Experience, Knowledge

  • Licensed Millwright or similar trade qualification
  • College Diploma and/or completion of an apprenticeship program in Millwrighting
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic power systems or control systems.
  • Minimum of one year mechanical or electrical repair experience.
  • Knowledge of electronics, mechanics, AC and DC servo drives, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • 2-5 years experience in a meat processing or food production facility
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid passport for international travel

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate PC skills and knowledge of Internet software and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Must have the ability to operate general office equipment.
